TRAINEES Please Note
As of January 1, 2008 you now need 16 hours of Basic Classroom Electrical Training to renew your card. Trainees must pass a test based on the required text at the end of class with a minimum score of 70% to receive credit. A makeup test is included with the price of our classes. If you are also an electrician, our BCET classes are also approved for Industrial credit for electricians.

Code Review for Trainees
8 hours – Trainees & Electricians
This class covers how NEC is organized, revised and how to find specific subjects. Covers the most common NEC rules including GFCI, AFCI, grounding, bonding, wiring methods and more. This class is good review for anyone preparing to take an electrical certification exam.

RCW/WAC for Trainees
8 hours – Trainees & Electricians
Every electrical exam from master electrician to residential maintenance includes a 17 question test on the RCW/WAC. This class covers the most common requirements in the RCW/WAC, including the rule making process, how to find material in the WAC, and how the WAC changes the NEC.

RCW/WAC Update
4 Hours – Required for electrical renewal
This required class covers the latest changes in the RCW /WAC, including the October 2009 revisions. This class also covers the reasons behind the changes. The Instructor was a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the last WAC changes and is very knowledgeable about the Washington State Electrical Laws and Rule changes.

2008 NEC Update
8 hours – Required for Electrician Renewal
The 2008 NEC has many controversial changes. This dynamic class will highlight about 200 changes will have a significant impact on designing, installing and inspecting electrical systems. More than a Code update, this class has practical tips on applying the 2008 NEC such as how to save 30% labor costs on every installation with MC AP cable.

Grounding versus Bonding
8 hours – Electricians
This class covers the requirements in Article 250 on Grounding and Bonding. Concepts covered include the difference between grounding and bonding, the grounding electrode system, including the Ufer ground. The rules for separately derived systems, such as generators and transformers are reviewed. Covers electrical systems not exceeding 600 volts.

This new class covers the rules for bonding and grounding of separately derived systems, and answers some of the most misunderstood topics in the electrical industry, including when generators need ground rods, how ground and bond transformers and when a generator must have a 4 pole transfer switch.

Basics of Low Voltage

Every electrician installs “Low Voltage”, but few really understand the rules. This class covers the WAC and NEC rules for low voltage installation, including HVAC, telecommunications, data, video and other common low voltage wiring methods.
